10 Last-Minute Father’s Day Gifts for Texas Dads

Updated: Jun 17

Father’s Day is less than a week away, and if your dad is a fan of Texas food, we have a few minute last-minute ideas sure to impress.

If your dad always has a half-gallon of Blue Bell in his freezer, Blue Bell’s classic “I Get Cranky Without My Blue Bell” will have him laughing. The creamery has an Amazon store, so if you aren’t fortunate enough to live near the Brenham factory, you can use your Prime membership and have this classic shirt in your mailbox before Father’s Day. It pairs well with the bright-blue crew socks emblazoned with the Blue Bell logo also available on Amazon.

Give Dad the gift of an experience, and sign him up for a cooking class at Central Market. Several of the stores will host a special Father’s Day “Grilling with Dad” class on Sunday, where he and his favorite child can grill kebabs, and others will have “Pizza & Beer” and “Parent & Child Handmade Pasta.” Or, you could even sign him up for a future class.

McDonald’s may have the golden arches, but every Texan knows you go to Whataburger’s orange “W” for the best burgers, each one made with special Fancy Ketchup. Let your dad show his love for the iconic Texas brand with this lightweight, moisture-wicking, UPF 50 polo available at Academy Sports + Outdoors.

Rosa Salsa is finally in Central Market stores, and we couldn’t be more excited for the man who is making every single jar by hand, Nick Fenn. The Austinite grills the tomatoes and vegetables, taking out the water and caramelizing the sugar, creating a thick sauce that literally sticks to your chip (no scooping required). If your dad loves Mexican food and grilling, pick up a jar of each of Nick’s three flavors to create the perfect gift.

Frisco’s Tumbleweed Texstyles has created one of the coolest shirts around, with its neon BBQ sign that reminds us of a beer sign you’d find in a favorite bar. The cotton/polyester blend will keep him cool in the Texas heat. Pick it up at the brand’s flagship store in Frisco or choose Priority Shipping to ensure you get it by Father’s Day.

Academy Sports + Outdoors has a fantastic selection of Jess Pryles’ Hardcore Carnivore grilling essentials, including the brand’s Black Beef Seasoning, trimming knife, high-heat protective gloves, Burnt Ends Sauce and more. Put together a gift basket with several products from the Aussie-turned-Texan to create a unique gift for the BBQ-loving guy.

Bring the flavors of Shiner, Texas, and its famous Spoetzl Brewery to Dad, and pick up this Shiner Bock beer flight from Kroger, HEB or Target. The 12-can case features six flavors new and old that he’s sure to love. (And if you ask nicely, maybe he’ll even share!)

Globe Life Field and Daikin Park are home to the Texas Rangers and Houston Astros, respectively, but they’re also home to an array of Texas brands and offerings that will tempt any foodie. At Globe Life Park, there’s a 7-Eleven right outside the stadium selling Slurpees that you can take inside as well as Karbach Brewing Co. beers, local favorite Hurtado Barbecue, Whataburger and Golden Chick on the concourses. At Daikin Field, you’ll find Slovacek’s Crawford Bock + Cheddar Cheese sausages; wings and elote covered in Yellowbird sauces; El Tiempo Tex-Mex; SloMaven Coffee & Cocktails, owned by the Astros’ own Lance McCullers, Jr.; and more.

For the Texas dad who loves to cook, this Texas road trip Lodge cast iron skillet could be the perfect gift. It’s unique and hard to find online, but we’ve spotted it at several Walmarts in Texas near the front (although it doesn’t seem to be listed on their site) as well as at several HEB locations.

If all else fails (or you need a true last-minute option), stop by HEB on the way to Father’s Day lunch and pick up one of the finest cuts of beef in the nation: the store’s USDA Prime 1 Beef ribeye roast. Every steakhouse-quality cut has been wet-aged for at least 14 days to ensure it’s perfectly tender, and it features gorgeous marbling that will make every bite oh-so-juicy.
