We’ve been on the lookout for the newest, most creative, healthiest frozen treats that fall into the better-for-you category: lower sugar, plant-based options, fewer calories, and just a little less guilt. Now, don’t get us wrong, we aren’t talking about health food exactly, but these options are definitely a step up from your usual freezer-aisle indulgence.
We’ve found 11 we think you’ll love—and that you can bet we’ll try this summer:
Alden’s Organic Mocktail Sorbet Bars
Alden’s Organic just released its Mocktail Sorbet Bars, and let’s just say we’re fans. Close your eyes and let Alden’s Organic sweep you away to a tropical paradise, with Limoncello’s citrusy cream, Margarita’s lime juice and hint of salt, and Piña Colada’s sweet pineapple juice. The dessert bars are sold in packs of four and only recently hit grocery store freezers, so keep your eyes peeled.
Why It’s a Better Choice
In true Alden’s Organic tradition, the non-alcoholic, cocktail-inspired pops use only the highest-quality ingredients and are free of artificial flavors and sweeteners as well as corn syrup. Plus, each pop is only 70 calories, making it a guilt-free option to cool off with.
Pitaya Foods Dragon Fruit + Mango Smoothie Pop
You say “dragon fruit,” we say “pitaya.” Whatever you want to call the odd-looking tropical fruit, it’s having a moment. Pitaya Foods’ Dragon Fruit + Mango Smoothie Pops are a great option to experiment with pitaya, and they’re perfect for a quick after-swim snack. Every box has four brightly colored, flavorful pops, each supporting energy, immunity and gut health. And since the pops are made with five types of fruit purees, you’ll get half a serving of fruit each time you snack on one.
Why It’s a Better Choice
Pitaya Foods is setting itself apart by using only red-flesh pitaya, which its website says is “richer in nutrients, flavor, and, of course, color” than its white-flesh counterparts. You can expect frozen pitaya to have high levels of antioxidants, Vitamin C, magnesium, Vitamin B-2, iron and fiber.

Diana’s Bananas Birthday Cake Banana Pop
Diana’s Bananas will be the first to say their trademark chocolate-dipped bananas aren’t perfect. In fact, they like it that way. The Chicago-based brand owned by Bob Carmody and founded with his wife Jeanine (not Diana) sources its bananas from Ecuador, each one selected for its texture, sweetness and ripeness. Some have lumps and bumps, and others have slightly imperfect coatings of chocolate. That’s just what happens when you use natural ingredients, Diana’s says.
Diana’s Bananas’ lineup is ever-growing, but among the most creative (and newest) flavors we’ve found is Diana’s Bananas’ Birthday Cake banana pop. A half-banana is dipped in white chocolate and covered in natural sprinkles made with vegetable juice, with natural extracts adding to the birthday cake flavor.
Why It’s a Better Choice
The ingredients are natural and simple. The first ingredient in every product is banana, followed by premium chocolate that doesn't have any artificial flavors or colors. Diana’s also offers organic options.

Yasso Frozen Greek Chocolate Cherry Crunch Yogurt Bar
If you’re looking for the perfect combination of taste and protein, you need Yasso’s frozen Greek yogurt bars in your life. The company’s 26 flavors each have between 4 and 5 grams of protein, and many are less than 100 calories, making them the ultimate guilt-free treats. Yasso just released its Chocolate Cherry Crunch Frozen Greek Yogurt Bar in time for summer. It features naturally flavored cherry Greek yogurt covered in dark chocolate and sprinkled with quinoa crisps. It’s indulgent, fruity and perfect.
Why It’s a Better Choice
Besides being protein-rich, Yasso’s Greek yogurt bars, sandwiches and Poppables are also lower in calories and fat than traditional ice cream. Yes, they’re still treats, but they’re treats you can enjoy knowing you aren’t undoing your evening walk or gym workout.

Ice Cream for Bears
Ice Cream for Bears initially caught our attention because of its unique name and fun bear logo, but once we started looking into the ingredients, we knew it deserved a spot in this list. Founder Timothy Berg started his brand in 2020 wanting to use simple, natural ingredients that have been around for centuries, using—and here’s where it gets interesting—raw, unpasteurized honey as the sweetener. He’s succeeded, and alongside the honey, you’ll find ingredients you probably have in your refrigerator and pantry: milk (albeit grass-fed), cream, egg yolk and butter.
Get the full Ice Cream for Bears experience, and try its newest flavor, Honey Honey Swirl French Ice Cream. Tasters have been giving this award-winning flavor rave reviews, saying the honey really shines through and works well with the vanilla’s creaminess.
Why It’s a Better Choice
Honey in its purest form is loaded with minerals, natural enzymes and vitamins, Ice Cream for Bears says. Even though they use unpasteurized honey, they do test it for antibiotics, heavy metals, pesticides, foreign sugars and insecticides, ensuring it’s safe and meets quality standards.

Protein Pints
If you’re on a protein-packed diet, you need Protein Pints in your freezer. Founders (and ice cream lovers) Paul Reiss and Mike Meadows have created five creamy, all-natural options, including Cookie Dough, Peanut Butter Chip and Mint Chip, each just as rich in protein as they are in flavor. They say you could eat Protein Pints every day—and who are we to stop you?
Why It’s a Better Choice
Every pint has 30 grams of high-quality whey protein isolate, 85 percent less sugar than what you’ll find in traditional ice cream, all-natural ingredients and nine essential amino acids.
KIND Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate Nut Frozen Treat Bar
Combine granola bars with an ice cream bar, and you’ll get KIND’s Frozen Treat Bars. If you were to try one flavor, we recommend the Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate Nut Frozen Treat Bar. It has overwhelmingly positive reviews online, with many people comparing them to Snickers Ice Cream Bars. Dark chocolate, peanuts, peanut butter and cream come together to create a healthy, indulgent treat that will satisfy even the sweetest tooth. Each box contains five plant-based, dairy-free bars with layers of dark chocolate, nuts and nut butter.
Why It’s a Better Choice
Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate Nut is at the top of its class with 4 grams of protein in each bar, making it the perfect choice if you’re looking for an on-the-go, protein-rich snack.

Halo Top Pints Mix-Ins
Halo Top has built its reputation on creating lifestyle-conscious, protein-packed pints that don’t sacrifice flavor. The brand just released its newest twist on its pints with Mix-Ins, loading each pint with add-ins to ensure you get a flavor punch in every bite you take. Choose from Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Strawberry Cheesecake, Sweet Cream Cold Brew, Cookies & Brownies and more.
Why It’s a Better Choice
Halo Top isn’t as much about boasting nutritional benefits as it is about offering products that fit your lifestyle and keep you on track with your health goals. If you’re looking for an alternative to traditional ice cream that’s readily available and offers a robust catalog of options, go to the Halo Top section.
Whey Good Milk Chocolate
Here’s one more option for our protein fans: Whey Good’s “Protein Shake on a Stick.” Each bar has 15 grams of protein and 90 calories, no matter if you pick Double Strawberry, Chocolate, Cookies & Cream, Caramel, Snowcream or Banana Cream. You can buy the bars in packs of six in grocery stores or pick up slightly larger individually wrapped single-serving ones when you’re around town.
Why It’s a Better Choice
Whey Good says their bars have the amino acids your body needs to support muscle growth, lessen soreness and fatigue, and prevent muscle wasting. And if that isn’t enough, the bars are also diabetic-friendly and aspartame-, gluten-, dye- and nut-free, making them a great choice for team snacks, family gatherings and just to have around the house.

Wild About Mixmi Froyo
Wild About Mixmi Froyo is one of those products that you’ve probably seen at the store, but you’ve never picked up because, well, prebiotic fiber, probiotics and frozen yogurt? Trust us on this one and give it a shot. The functional froyo was originally only in schools, where 7 million kids picked it up in the lunch line and ate it alongside their school pizza and “nachos.” Today, though, you can pick up a box in your grocery store and enjoy Ultimate Chocolate, Totally Vanilla, Orange Dream, Mango Mania with real pizza and nachos at home.
Why It’s a Better Choice
Each cup of the froyo has billions of probiotics, six live and active cultures and prebiotic fiber to keep your gut and digestive health in tip-top shape so you feel great, inside and out. As an added bonus, each cup is only 90 calories.
Funny Farm Goat Milk Ice Cream
If the thought of dairy makes your tummy queasy, Funny Farm’s Goat Ice Cream could be the one milk-infused ice cream that leaves you wanting more. Funny Farm’s goat milk, straight from Wisconsin’s family farms, is the first ingredient in a list that includes eggs and natural flavoring. You can pick up their goat milk ice cream in Vanilla Snowflake, Mint Chocolate Chip, Mystic Strawberry and Deep Chocolate.
Why It’s a Better Choice
Goat milk naturally has A2 protein and very little A1 protein, Funny Farm’s website says. It’s the A1 protein found in traditional cow’s milk that can cause tummy troubles for people with dairy sensitivities. The A2 protein, however, is easier on our digestive systems.
